Botika ng Alumni Update: From Planning to Successful Launch

The UPAA Botika ng Alumni project has officially moved from planning to implementation, marking another milestone in the University of the Philippines Alumni Association’s commitment to community service and accessible healthcare.

September 4: Laying the Groundwork

In Augist 2025, UPAA leadership met with major pharmaceutical partners to prepare for the rollout of the Botika ng Alumni initiative. Discussions were held with Planet Drugstore and RiteMed to finalize supply arrangements and ensure affordable, quality medicines for the UP community.

The meeting signaled UPAA’s serious commitment to building a sustainable, community-based pharmacy that would directly benefit alumni, faculty, staff, and nearby residents.

Botika ng Alumni was envisioned not simply as a pharmacy, but as a service-driven initiative aligned with UPAA’s broader mission of health, dignity, and care within the UP community.

November 20: Official Launch at Health and Wellness Day

The project officially launched during UPAA’s Health and Wellness Day on November 20, 2025, held at Ang Bahay ng Alumni.

The event gathered alumni, campus stakeholders, and health partners in a shared celebration of holistic well-being. The Botika ng Alumni opened its doors by offering medicines at discounted rates—fulfilling its promise of accessibility and affordability.

The launch highlighted UPAA’s vision of bringing practical, tangible benefits to its members while reinforcing a culture of care and shared responsibility within the UP system.

A Successful Community Initiative

Following the event, UPAA expressed gratitude to the community and partner organizations that made the launch possible. In addition to Planet Drugstore and RiteMed, support came from:

  • Pharmaserv Express
  • Monte Zion Diagnostic and Medical Center

Volunteer doctors and nurses also played a crucial role, offering their time and expertise to make Health and Wellness Day more meaningful for attendees.

The strong turnout and positive response demonstrated the real need for accessible medicines within the UP alumni and campus community. More importantly, it affirmed that Botika ng Alumni is not just a project—it is a long-term commitment to wellness and service.

Moving Forward

With its successful launch, Botika ng Alumni stands as a concrete example of how UPAA transforms vision into action. From partnership meetings in September to a fully operational pharmacy in November, the initiative reflects careful planning, collaboration, and shared purpose.

As UPAA continues to expand programs that prioritize health, empowerment, and community care, Botika ng Alumni remains a proud symbol of service in action.
